Embracing the Granbell Hotel’s branding concept ‘Fun to Stay’, we sought to approach the essence of Kabukicho from a novel perspective and offer new spaces for guests to enjoy. Our theme was ‘Asia’s Next Artist x Hotel’.

In the guest rooms and other areas, we created various opportunities for collaboration between Japanese designers and young artists from around Asia.

Ultimately, the project involved 22 designers and artists from Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Cambodia. Drawing on our three Kabukicho-inspired design terms – ‘Hip, Edgy, Sensual’ – the team worked together to realize new ways to view and experience hotels.

Using craftsmanship as a means of cross-border collaboration between creatives, we sought to offer a place for sharing new Asian designs with guests from around the world.
