COSPA Gakuenmae

A pool-less fitness club developed as a new type of business.

We set out to create a space that had the relaxed feel of a home, combined with the impressive facilities of a commercial building. At the entrance, we decorated the walls with artificial turf to create an active feel, while another wall features a printed map of the surrounding area with space for writing local information, as a way to spur interaction between members.

We gave the changerooms an original aspect by using dark green and red tones with origins in Nara. By wrapping pillars and walls in non-woven fabrics instead of using corner guards, which tend to create design obstacles, we were able to retain the necessary safety functions while incorporating these features into the design.
